The Silver One sat at the edge of the reflection pond watching. He was glad to have a rare quiet moment where he could look in on the other half of his heart - the Caring One - and simply watch. "Ah, Daddy, we do make a good team" he thought. Yes, it had been a long journey thus far - and at times hard - but the Caring One seemed to know - to be able to see into the very heart of others. "Yes, we are a good team. You guide their hearts to find the winds of Peace and I gather their soul mates and loves and help them to reach back and offer comfort."
The Silver One had, since his arrival, acted as greeter even though it was never asked of him. He remained near the reflecting pond that showed those who gazed upon her waters reflections of other places as all new ones arrived seemed to arrive in this area. At first he remained here in silent vigil because this was where he himself had arrived. He had heard a familiar yet new sound here that had drawn him to the pond, and upon gazing into her mirror-like waters had been shocked to see him there, the Caring One - Daddy. It had been Daddy he had heard - and the sound he had heard, at once familiar yet new was the sound of his crying. So he stayed so he could watch over Daddy.
As time passed he began trying to help others as they arrived new and a bit confused and he found this seemed to be what he was meant to do - perhaps why he had arrived here so young. He began to wonder, "Perhaps I can reach back to Daddy, guide him to help the new one's parents who hurt so. Perhaps this is what was meant to be, that we should be a team to bridge the divide." The Silver One began to try to find a way, he had been able to visit and even leave small signs but to work as one on both sides of the divide would require more - both would need to be to some small degree on both sides.
"How can we both be on both sides?", the Silver One had pondered, "And how do I let Daddy know?" Now between new arrivals he studied, every small word he heard, every feeling he felt from the new ones. He studied those he could in the mirror like reflecting pond. He began to listen not just to Daddy's voice on the winds - he listened also to He Who Holds The Winds in His Hand. Slowly the words formed, 'Two hearts that are as one - yet mirrors each of the other - two hearts and yet a single heartbeat.' Nineteen words that made sense as a sentence, yet he could not see what they could mean for him for they were an impossibility. "We were as close as were we joined before I left - yet even then we were distinct - separate. How can we be more separated by the divide?"
"Our inner hearts have always been as one," he thought. "But each has their own heart. And they are alike - not opposites so how can they be mirrors?" The Silver One now spoke to He Who Holds The Wind. "I understand what you wish - but I do not see how it may be done. And I worry now, his heart grows weak." He Who Holds The Wind answered softly, "And if you share - then what?"
The afternoon passed with The Silver One now deep in thought. "if I gave him part of my heart he would be stronger," he thought. "And my heart is young and strong so I would fare no harm. Perhaps that would give me time to figure out my task. But then how am I to do this? I cannot tell him for he would not understand - and in his pain Daddy would say, "no, I have done enough to him." It seemed to the Silver One he heard the very wind smile. "You see," The One Who Holds The Wind said to his angels, "Even though he does not yet see it he has begun to solve the riddle."
The Silver One felt an idea form, a way he could share. That night as the Caring One entered his room the Silver One was waiting. Suddenly he leapt towards his soul mate passing through his chest, and while doing so he left half of his young strong heart taking one half of the Caring One's worn weary heart, giving strength to his beloved friend. He paused - looking back before returning to the reflecting pond to watch over the Caring One. What he saw stunned him, their hearts were now mirror images one of the other and they seemed to beat as one with a single rhythm. Truly now "Two hearts that are as one - yet mirrors each of the other - two hearts and yet a single heartbeat".
Time had passed since that night - the Caring One had reached out to others and formed a circle of others who cared, The Silver One had become a mentor to so many at the bridge. Together they had helped so many, would help so many more - and they would leave for others a legacy of caring that would live forever.
