A SPECIAL KITTY AT RAINBOW BRIDGE
It was an unusual day; everyone at Rainbow Bridge knew it. There was a special feel in the air and everyone sensed something special was going to happen. The sun was brighter than usual, the sky seemed bluer, and the air seemed fresher. The fur children who had been at Rainbow Bridge a while knew something special was going to happen, the newest arrivals just sensed the excitement and they all crowded around to see what was happening.
It wasn’t long before a group of beings appeared among them. The ones who had been there a while knew who they were and settled back to wait explaining to the newer ones that these were special angels searching for a special one.
As the angels passed over all the beautiful cats they petted each one and explained in a voice that sounded like the most melodic song they had ever heard that no, they were not the one they and they would see their human when it was time. Then the angels passed among the lost cats, those who had passed without a real home. As they petted each one they again told each one that they were not the one because there were tear stains on their passing and they would see a rescuer. Then one of the angels knelt down at the edge of the bridge and called out softly – “I have found her.”
All the cats looked on in wonder at the small kitten, obviously under nourished and mistreated in her short time on earth, as she cowered in front of the radiant beings who gathered around her. She was one who had hidden in terror ever since she had arrived, fearful of everything. “Yes, she’s perfect”, one said. They all nodded in agreement.
One of the beautiful cats looked at the angels and wondered that they would pick such a kitten as special. She wondered why they had looked over so many others, some so lovely, others so smart.
One of the angels smiled, turned, and knelt down to talk to the cat. “You were so loved on earth. When it is time you will be reunited with your people as will all the beautiful cats here. These others were rescued or watched over but never had a forever home, but when their rescuer or watcher comes they will be restored to health and be beautiful again and cross with them. On earth this kitten knew no love, only hunger and abuse, fear, despair, and pain in her short life, she is who we need for a special little angel who arrived today.”
How can someone so damaged be perfect the cat wondered? And for a small angel? A child? Surely such an angel needed a kitten who could play and make them happy again.
The angel smiled softly and a single silver tear ran down a kind and sad face. “No, Little One, she is perfect. They will heal each other. They share the same story.”
