For Jim and Dee
Those we have loved,
Though now beyond our view,
Have given form and
substance to our being.
And they live on,
Unfailingly feeding our hearts
and our imagination,
Until the sense of their presence
Becomes greater than their absence.
The Rainbow Bridge
By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on the earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed.
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.
They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.
For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side by side, they cross over........together.

Goodbye From A Fur Friend
You look into my basket
You know my time is near.
Please dear mum/dad I ask you.
Don’t face my time with fear.
My weary bones are hurting,
My eyes are growing dim.
Please dear mum/dad please be happy,
I’m going to live with “him.”
Please understand I love you.
I really don’t want to go.
I know it’s time to walk the path
I really love you so.
I remember the day you brought me home
A day that started all our joy.
Unlike those other people
To you I was not just a toy.
You made each day so special
Each day was such a treat.
I have to stop and wonder
Why I deserved someone so sweet?
But now it’s time to close my eyes
To rest my weary head.
It’s time to go to heaven
Yes it’s time the Lord just said.

Oh wispy clouds that waft lovingly around the paws of the ones we love.
Always shall you be the shroud that envelopes those who are in your trust forever and one day.
Forever True
Others look at you and I know what they see,
A small bundle of fur, something to possess,
One more task to be done in a too busy day,
Needing attention – and it may make a mess.
But there is so much there that they never see,
Rare precious moments that one cannot plan,
Wealth that’s beyond mere silver or gold,
Or the greatest treasure they hold in their hand.
From the first moment your love knew no limit,
You filled my heart with joy they can’t understand,
And my life is much richer because you are in it,
We share a special bond they cannot comprehend.
You know my heart and soul as has no other,
Content to share in my joy and happiness,
When my world is all wrong you stay by me
And let me know the darkness won’t last.
And when it happens, heaven calls you home,
While my tears fall and my heart aches for you
I’ll also remember all we have shared, and know
My angel’s with me with a love forever true.
