“This one’s not show dog quality” - that’s what the breeder said. I thought you were the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. You had a slight over bite and were such a little thing. But you would get big, boy did you get big! So brave your first day with us. You were brave all of your life, and always in charge. You let everyone know you were THE big guy and you were in charge. Wherever you went, you said “I got this” always leading the way. I always felt safe when you were by my side - I was never afraid - I knew you would die for me - I would have died for you - I hope you knew that.

You always wanted to be with me - hated it when you couldn’t get your way. Shoving anything with your nose, especially liked knocking something off the table, showing everyone that you weren’t happy. You were happiest when you were by my side - taking care of the momma, I was happiest when you were by my side too. You always ran to the door to welcome me home whether I was gone for days or just down to the mailbox to get the paper. I miss you jumping up in the bed to sleep with me even though Daddy hated that, it was our secret.

Everyone thinks you are so handsome. Whenever you went anywhere, everyone would always said WHOA - holy cow - WOW. You are so impressive. You are the most magnificent thing I will ever have in my life. I am so sorry you got sick, you left us too early. I will miss you most of all…

Your sister Lakota is lost without you, she looks for you every day, misses you picking on her, always taking the toys away from her. She looks for you every day in the truck, and we try to explain that you’re gone for a while, but she keeps looking. Mister-mister tries to play with her the way he used to play with you, getting up on his back legs and swatting her, then showing her his butt, but she doesn’t get it - she’s not you. There will never be another you. Mister misses his buddy…

Even Lamb misses his big brother, now he has to guard the house all alone…

My heart broke when you had to leave us, and it will never, ever, be mended until I cross the bridge to be with you again.

Hello my family is me. I wanted to tell you how I am and what I have been doing. I start each day off saying good morning to you and sending you my love in the rays of the sun. I have many friends here, we reach out to each other here like you do in Pet Loss. We each have a place where we can sit and gaze into the blue waters that run under Rainbow Bridge. Here we can watch our loved ones and whisper to your heart.

It is a beautiful place here the colours glow with the warmest of love and the Angels of the Rainbow watch over us until we are one again. Not a moment goes by that I don't think of you. Not a day goes by that I don't feel the warm touch of the memories we share. So many times I stop and smile thinking of how you would buy me the most wonderful toys. I would hear you laugh as you watched me run and play with my new toy. The joy in that laughter is always with me. I always knew I had a place all my own in your heart and that I always will. I have always known what was on your mind as you knew mine. It was that bond that joined us long before time. The bond that was written in the stars.

Please remember that is always and forever. I have pictured what it will be like when is time. I will sense you near and will look up and see you coming towards me. I will run to you and feel your gentle hugs and kisses. Our tears will flow and the healing of reunion shall be. Of course I shall show you off, I boast about you all the time and tell of my pride in you. I will say here is my loved one with such a wide grin that all will know how much you mean to me. I know is hard waiting, is never easy to wait for what you wish with all your heart. Remember for me that one day we will be as one again forever and always. I will send you others to warm your lonely heart and when you hug them you also hug me. Through them we will touch again and they will have a home which is your arms. You have so much love to give just reach out and give of it to others. Like you have always done for me.

I am now going to my spot by the waters of the bridge and send this letter to you on the winds of peace. Till our day of reunion look into the stars each night and the star that winks at you is me.

When the darkness closes in and wraps you in its cold grasp
And hope seems a distant thing saved for a privileged few,
When it feels that even one more step is just too much to ask
Keep in your heart there is one more thing that you must do.

Close your eyes reach with your heart, then - hold up your hand
