The Giftbox - Enlightenment

The Little One sat by the Reflecting Pond staring up at the stars. She loved Christmas and watching all of the holiday preparations both here and in the pond's crystal clear waters. There were always new ones here, of course, who were lost and confused - but everyone always looked after them and as wonderful as everyday here is she found the holidays even more special and beautiful. All the beings here radiated a special excitement and joy, like the love the holiday represented had magnified everything good.

The Gentle Ones had all gathered to help show the new ones how to share their Christmas Joy with the loved ones they had had to leave because of the demons that had caused them to strike out, demons now gone thanks to their humans gift of love in setting them free and allowing them to run ahead to Rainbow Bridge. All of the Bridge Babies who had been here for Christmas before helped all of the newer Bridge Babies join in and to prepare for the Christmas Gift Box. Some who had crossed beyond Rainbow Bridge with their humans came back just for a brief visit and to check on their other humans and to visit with friends and share in the joy.

Some others that never stayed at Rainbow Bridge the rest of the year were always there for Christmas. The Silver One had explained that these were those who were free beings that were never part of the humans' world, those who no longer existed on earth and were something humans called extinct, and those gone from earth so long that many felt they were only myths. This was the only time of year they visited Rainbow Bridge and The Little One found them truly fascinating.

The Little One watched as some angels hung the special Christmas stars and a beautiful unicorn followed close behind, lighting each star with a touch from her horn. The holidays were truly special here and Little One wished she could show her humans how very special this place was.

As she watched those at the Reflecting Pond she was confused by the concern from the Free Ones gathered in several areas. The Silver One walked up and spoke, answering her unasked question. "They are searching for their kind – hoping to find that there are any still there. So many are extinct, and so many more are fading from that world." The Little One saw a sadness cross her friend's face. Yes, she had heard that wolves and many others were in danger of being no longer. She knew he worried that one day the wolves would be only a memory or thought to be a myth. "Perhaps mankind will realize soon, before they loose more," she whispered to her friend.

She noticed a lone unicorn standing at the pond's edge with a small cat gazing into the crystal clear waters. She turned to The Silver One totally bewildered. "There have been none of her kind for a very, very long time, and no humans from her time remain. So who is she looking for?" The Silver One smiled, "Do you not see the small cat by her side? The cat has only just arrived; he is the best friend of a small child. The cat had to leave very suddenly and while still very young. The small girl child feels her heart will never be unshattered and has lost belief in hope and Christmas’ magic, and it is nearly Christmas. The unicorn is trying to help the wee cat help his little girl see that magic does still exist, that hope does exist."

"Come, Little One, it is time. Everyone has gathered and is checking on their humans and are preparing to place their gifts in the Gift Box." The Little One turned and hurried to follow her friend. The Gift Box was always so special - magical. She placed her gift in the box adding to the special glow of love that enveloped it, and added a special Christmas wish for peace and happiness for all of the creatures still on earth.

As she finished adding her gifts the angels moved forward to add their gifts before the magic of Christmas delivered the Gift Box and all of its gifts. A small angel walked from among the angels and stepped toward the box. The Little One knew this angel was the angels' gift, carried their special wish to earth. Always the little angels were even lovelier than any of the other beautiful angels ever at Rainbow Bridge . She paused and smiled at The Little One, "Your gifts are perfect, even though I know you worry that they are not what you should have chosen. But they are exactly what you needed to send." With those words she bowed her head in front of the Gift Box and in a soft glow both vanished. "Wait!" the Little One called out. She turned to an angel who stood beside her, "I don't even know her name. . . ." The angel smiled softly at the Little One, "Her name is Enlightenment."
